From Salem, Oregon - Department of Community Services:
Through local neighborhood associations (recognized groups affiliated with the City of Salem) we are offering to support neighborhood picnics, parties, celebrations held on 9/16/07. We developed a menu of services from which the associations can select, including:
- Up to 100 printed invitations with original art from a local artist
- Additional picnic tables and garbage cans if the event is held in a City park
- Recreation staff to lead games or just the equipment to check out
- Party Buckets with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, etc.
- A basket of kids books with a "neighborhood theme"
- Up to 100 ice cream cups (yes, with the ice cream)
We just announced the idea and already have a half dozen events being planned.

This year Louisville is celebrating National Neighborhood Day on a grand scale by hosting the
Mayor’s Good Neighbor Award Ceremony
on September 16th.
From Las Vegas, Nevada – Celebrations and Events throughout September
"Beginning on Wednesday, September 6, the city of Las Vegas will recognize National Neighborhood Day, a nationwide effort designed to build and sustain neighborhood relationships and create stronger, more caring and effective communities.
The city will be hosting a number of different events throughout the community to bring our neighborhoods closer together. The events will kick off on Wednesday, September 6, at the City Council meeting. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. outside of City Hall Council Chambers, located at 400 Stewart Avenue, there will be booths and displays with information on how to make your neighborhood a better place to live, work and play. In addition, the city’s Neighborhood Services Department will be unveiling its new neighborhood porch trailer. There will be plenty of food, fun and information until 10:30 a.m. A resolution formally recognizing National Neighborhood Day will be introduced at the City Council meeting."
